OPTO WATCH CO., the Dubai-based brand is proud to announce its collaboration with Charles Berret and the Micro Indy Collective (MIC) for the launch of the Aurora — the latest handcrafted timepiece following the sell-out success of their Nebula edition.
Beyond supporting the regional launch, OPTO WATCH CO. contributed directly to the creation of this new collection by supplying custom handmade straps for both versions of the Aurora. Each strap was carefully designed to complement the dial’s unique character and finishing — a purple Pueblo leather strap for the Aurora White, and a dark green Saffiano leather strap for the Aurora Black. Both straps are fully handcrafted, stitched, and finished in OPTO’s atelier, embodying the same artisanal spirit that defines the Aurora collaboration.
The Aurora: a continuation of artisanal watchmaking excellence
Crafted in a 40mm 316L steel case, the Aurora continues Charles Berret’s exploration of texture and material contrast. The piece is powered by a hand-wound 6498-based calibre, meticulously decorated with perlage, anglage, and tremblage finishing — a nod to traditional Swiss craft elevated with contemporary detail.
Its Mother-of-Pearl dials come in two striking variations:
- Aurora White, with a full MOP surface, guilloché small seconds, and Eastern Arabic numerals.
- Aurora Black, featuring a deep lacquered black finish with a white MOP subdial and Eastern Arabic numerals.
Bringing independent craftsmanship together
“The Aurora represents everything we love about independent watchmaking — creativity, collaboration, and a human touch,” said Mubarak Ibrahim, Co-Founder of OPTO WATCH CO. “Designing the straps for this project allowed us to interpret the colors and textures of the dials through leather. It’s a meeting point between our world and theirs — horology and craft, in harmony.”
